Frequently Asked Questions

  • How quickly does the carpet dry?

Carpets usually dry in 4 to 8 hours. Thick and wool carpets will take longer to dry.

  • Can you get pet spots out?

For pet spots we use odor and stain remover that removes the odor and some stains. If the urine has saturated the carpet and the pad underneath it is unlikely that the stains and smells will go away completely. Urine needs to be removed quickly to prevent leakage into the carpet pad.

  • What kind of carpet cleaning do you do?

We use the hot water extraction method with the bonnet cleaning on tough spots.

  • What's the process for carpet cleaning?

Our process is vacuum the carpet, pre-spray, buff if needed, treat spots, rinse and extract. Carpets are damp when we leave. It's good to have windows open or good air circulation for carpets to dry quickly.

  • How long do I need to stay off my carpet?

It is recommended that you stay off of your carpet until it is dry. If you need to walk on it while it is damp, it would be best to walk on it barefoot or with clean socks on.

  • Do you clean upholstery?

Yes. We clean fabric couches, chairs and ottomans.

  • How long until I can sit on my couch?

You should wait about one day. Upholstery generally takes 24 hours to dry.

  • How can I make my carpet dry out faster?

Your carpet will dry faster if there is more air flow. Open windows and use fans to help your carpet dry out faster.

Carpets are extremely beneficial as they improve cushion to lessen the impact of slips and falls and they also dampen noises. They also add to your home aesthetic and serve as a great way to personalize your space. Carpets are also great for providing warmth and comfort as they retain warm air longer, which is beneficial to homes with cold climates.

As much as these benefits sound great, it is also extremely important to properly clean and maintain your carpets to maximize these benefits. Carpets are notorious for being a home for allergens, dust particles, and bacteria. Having dirty carpets may also impede the airflow in your home and may produce bad air. The debris that is brought into your home usually stays in the bottom of your carpet and every time you step on it, an invisible cloud of dirt is thrown into the air. While vacuuming your carpet is helpful, it does not completely remove all allergens, dirt, stains, and bacteria that can be found in your carpet. This is why professional carpet cleaning must be performed to keep your carpet clean and looking new.

It is important to have your rugs cleaned every 12-24 months or even more often depending on usage. An area rug professional cleaning service like Doctor Clean will remove contaminants and allergens, remove stains, and provide the area rug with a deep clean that cannot be achieved with simply a vacuum or a home carpet cleaner. Several steps go into an area rug cleaning service. Let’s go into each one of them.

  • 1. Inspection of Area Rug

The first step in the area rug cleaning process is inspecting the top and bottom parts of your rug. Our professionals will check if there are any repairs or special treatments that must be done. We will try to get as much information about where your rug came from, what it’s made of, the amount of use it gets in your home, and any other concerns that you may want to have addressed.

  • 2. Dry Soil Removal

Dry soil removal is done in three area phases. Entry-area vacuuming, overall vacuuming and edges vacuuming. Entry-area vacuuming is the removal of the substantial buildup of sand and dirt inside the primary entry doors. Overall vacuuming is the dry vacuuming of open areas. Edges vacuuming is done by hand in order to remove dust and solid that upright vacuum cannot get.

  • 3. Color Testing

Before cleaning, rugs are color tested to check for possible color bleeding. If a rug is colored with certain kinds of dyes, it may be prone to color bleeding.

  • 4. Cleaning

The area rug is cleaned using hot water and suction to bring the soil to the surface for extraction. During the cleaning process, the rug is rinsed to remove the remaining grime and dirt.

  • 5. Grooming and Drying

Once the rug is clean, our professionals will proceed with the hand grooming process and align the fringes of your rug. After this, the rug will start to dry.

  • 6. Post Inspection

After the rug has been cleaned, it is inspected to ensure that there are no misaligned fringes or stains that remain.

Having tile flooring at home is extremely beneficial. Tiles are extremely durable and resistant to staining and wear. Tiles are perfect for areas with high foot traffic. Tiles are also, for the most part, very low maintenance. They do need to be cleaned, just like any other surface, but they’re not as high maintenance as other flooring materials. They are also water-resistant, which makes them good for areas with high moisture levels and they are eco-friendly. Tiles are also cost-effective as they can reduce your electricity bills by keeping your house cool during the summer and warm during the winter as they serve as a form of insulation.

Despite being extremely durable, tiles still need to be cleaned and maintained occasionally. It’s very easy to tell the condition of your tiles by how soiled they look. You can easily check their condition by comparing your tiles from a low traffic area to a high traffic area. There are many instances wherein the grout isn’t properly sealed, which makes dirt and grime get directly into the grout making it harder for them to be maintained. Most tile floors need to be professionally cleaned every year. Bathroom tiles and shower tiles can accumulate dirt and soap very quickly, tiles installed in entryways also accumulate outside dirt and grime more easily. Having your tiles professionally cleaned will remove the grout and bacteria build up in your tiles and make them look clean and healthy again.

This is how a tile cleaning service is usually performed:

  1. Your tiles will be vacuumed or swept to remove the soil and loose dirt in your tiles.
  2. A neutral tile cleaning solution is applied to your tiles.
  3. The tiles are steam cleaned. The device emits steam at high pressure to clean the surface and also disinfect the area without applying toxic chemicals.
  4. The tiles will be left to air dry or they can dry with the assistance of an electric fan.

Your furniture is subject to a great deal of wear and tear as it is used by various house members daily. There are a lot of contaminants that can easily stick to your furniture, such as food crumbs, pet hair, pet waste, food and drink spills, pollen, and bacteria. These things can cause your pristine furniture to look shabby and dirty and may trigger those with allergies. The good news is that these can easily be eliminated with a professional cleaning service.

Professional upholstery cleaning services are extremely beneficial. They remove the odor trapped in your furniture which is quite difficult to do with normal DIY cleaning. Professional cleaning also removes stains that seep into the upholstery fibers that leave a sticky residue and attract dirt and dust. Your furniture life is also prolonged since having dirt seep into the fibers may cause internal damage. Lastly, allergens are significantly reduced with professional maintenance and cleaning.

Here’s how an upholstery cleaning service is usually performed:

  • 1. Pre-inspection

The first step to an upholstery cleaning service is determining the upholstery type, degree of stain, defects, and color condition of the furniture. Our professionals then figure out the best cleaning strategy for your specific upholstery.

  • 2. Deodorizing and Sanitizing

The upholstery is then sanitized to remove the microbes and bacteria that live in them. Upholstery that reeks with bad odor will be deodorized.

  • 3. Proper Cleaning

There are different ways of cleaning for each upholstery type. There are two types of cleaning, steam cleaning, and deep cleaning. Steam cleaning uses hot water to remove germs and stains on the upholstery. Deep cleaning uses hot water extraction plus additional additives for effective cleaning. This is a more rigorous process for upholstery that has deep-seated dirt.

  • 4. Spot Cleaning

There are instances of tough stains or oil-indued stains that may require spot cleaning. Mild chemicals are used to blot out stains from the upholstery.

  • 5. Cleaning

Cleaning will be done for furniture that can be cleaned. Drying time can take up to 24 hours depending on the materials cleaned and the ventilation in the location of cleaning.
